Summer Fun Run 2008: How Was It For You?

By Peter Harvey on Jul 8, 08 11:08 PM

THE great thing about blogs is they give readers a chance to share views, comments and memories with others.

The comments on our Summer Fun Run blog are published immediately, providing there's nothing our robots suspect is suspicious or inappropriate.

Tell us about YOUR experience in this year's Summer Fun Run by posting a comment - it can be anonymous or under a pseudonym if you like.

There's no need to register but we do need an email address which (don't worry) isn't published.

Were you running in memory of a loved one? Did you raise sponsorship? Perhaps you'd like to thank your sponsors? Did you run with schoolfriends, workmates, family?

What do you like about the Summer Fun Run? How can we make it even better next year? Come on, share your experience and/or views with others....

OK, I'll go first. I always joke that I get the easy job of holding a clipboard, standing by the start/finish line and trying to look like I'm in control.

Of course there's 101 things rattling round my head on the day - things that could go wrong, but thankfully usually don't.

The forecast of high winds was a big concern this year and I was still checking the Met Office website at 4am.

The gale-force winds DID arrive, but a couple of hours after the last runner was safely home.

Thank you to the team of volunteers who again made the Summer Fun Run possible. I hope to turn the spotlight on as many possible on this blog over the next few months as we tell the story of Summer Fun Run.

Meanwhile, I hope others will chip in with their memories of this year's event...

Many thanks, Peter
