'Crosby 10' 2008: Finishers & Times

He said: "They have followed me to races and they have supported me when I have taken part in the 'Crosby 10' so I think it is time for them to enjoy it and us all take part as a family.

"I am also doing a degree so as well as the kids I have my career to keep me busy so this will be the last year I will go for it competitively, not that there is a competitive spirit to the event, but I am a competitive person.

"I would encourage anyone who likes a long distance run to take part as it is a fantastic course, I always recommend it to people, it is a brilliant event and we always have a great day."

The district nurse who works for one of the Summer Fun Run's main sponsors, Sefton PCT, said: "My mate Ste Wilko is desperate to win. He says he always walks round the corner and hopes he doesn't see me at the start line.

"I live in Litherland and he is a local lad so as our local run it means a lot to us both. I love the course, and I like the hot weather."
