Five-time 'Crosby 10' winner Richard Shearer with his wife Alison and children Sarah, Tom, Hannah and Jack after his 2008 successTHE winner of the 'Crosby 10' was Richard Shearer with Crosby's supermum Mel Spence the first woman home.

The full list of 'Crosby 10' finishers and times reveals Richard, a father-of-four, made it five wins in a row with a time of 56 minutes and 11 seconds.

But he'll be taking it gently next year. The 37-year-old Southport and Waterloo runner, who lives in Litherland with wife Alison and children Sarah, Tom, Hannah and Jack, plans to take part in the 3.5-mile Summer Fun Run with his kids next year.

Kenny Dalglish and Marina give Ivan's hooter a honkIVAN Swainbank, one of the Crosby Lions who help out each year, always brings along his gas-powered horn to start the fun run.

Twice we've invited Marina Dalglish and her husband Kenny to officially get the Summer Fun Run underway with a hearty blast on the horn.

Ivan's trusty hooter never fails to bring a smile to Marina's face. She gets quite giddy, in fact.

Porterprint, Waterloo, has been a key sponsor since 2003
SINCE it began in 2003, Waterloo firm Porterprint has played a key role in the success of the Summer Fun Run.

Managing director John Porter asked few questions before agreeing to be one of our key sponsors.

John spotted that the Summer Fun Run was all about community spirit and he was delighted to help us by printing entry forms and posters.

Summer Fun Run starter Alasdair Francis and his team, Bill Catterall, Richard Norris, Ivan Swainbank, Graham Murphy, Liz Lord and Teri FrancisNO problem is too big for our stalwart helpers from Crosby Lions.

Every year a team of volunteers led by Alisdair Francis looks after our start/finish area in Crosby village - they've never let us down.

Even a last minute snag with our finishing line banner in 2008 (thanks to a buffoon having removed one of the crucial bungee ropes) was overcome with expertise and without fuss.

They are a team of fixers and grafters without whom we'd struggle to stage the event.
